Jaden Lander and the Rotek Racing Team were at Sebring this past weekend for the second stop of the 2024 Pirelli GT4 America season after a tough start to the season at Sonoma Raceway, Jaden and the team were looking to rebound and move up the standings.
Friday’s practice session wasn’t the best for the team, but it allowed Jaden to get more comfortable driving the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4. In qualifying, Lander put together a lap good enough for a second in-class start, while his teammate Robb Holland finished seventh.
Lander started Saturday’s first race of the weekend and was able to pass the car in front for the lead before handing the car over. Unfortunately, a pit lane penalty cost the team a few places and ultimately the team finished just off the podium in fourth place.
Holland started the weekend’s second race and moved up one position before handing the car over to Lander. Lander was on pace for a podium finish, but another penalty derailed the team’s efforts, and the car finished once again in fourth position. Although the team missed out on the podium, they showed great gains from the first weekend and will look to put it all together at the Circuit of the Americas from May 17th to 19th.
“Even though the results don’t show it, the car was great this weekend. I felt that I finally understand how the Porsche drives, and that brought a lot of confidence. We had the pace for some trophies, but our execution as a team was not there. Big thank you to FCPEuro, Hella Pagid, Saratoga Spring Water, Rotek Racing, and PMNA. We will be back stronger for some silverware at COTA!”
