Double Victory In New Jersey

Jaden Lander

This past weekend, Jaden Lander and the Krugspeed team were in Millville, New Jersey, competing in the SCCA US Majors Tour. The event was Lander’s last event in the Mazda MX-05 for the year leading into the SCCA National Championship Runoffs at the end of September.

The weekend began with a full day of practice on Friday, where Lander and the team were able to perfect their car heading into Saturday’s qualifying session. Lander drove in the first qualifying session on Saturday, putting together a stellar lap to put himself on pole by .2 seconds. The time Lander put in was the best across both sessions and meant he would be leading the 20-car grid in both scheduled races for the weekend.

In the weekend’s first race, Lander started at the front and led the entire race. At one point during the race, a full course yellow bunched the field back together, but Lander was able to hold his position at the restart and secure the victory.

Unfortunately, the second race of the weekend had to be canceled due to poor weather conditions. The cancellation meant that Lander was awarded his second victory of the weekend due to him holding pole position.

“Overall, this was an amazing weekend for everyone involved! To sweep the weekend with pole and both race wins was incredible for Krugspeed and Mazda Motorsports! Big thank you to everyone who makes this possible, and let’s keep this up for the Runoffs in September!”
