Jaden Lander and the Krügspeed team were at Sebring International Raceway this past weekend for an action-filled four days of racing. The weekend started early for the team, with three practice sessions on Thursday and a make-up race from NOLA on Friday evening. The car was feeling good in practice, and the team had a lot of confidence going into the weekend’s first race.
Lander started race one and climbed several spots before handing over the car to his teammate. Unfortunately, a spin and a collision with the wall resulted in a DNF. The team was then up until 3 a.m., putting in a heroic effort to have the car back together for qualifying and another two races.
Qualifying for Lander went great as he put the car on pole position in his stint in the cockpit. His teammate, still shaken up from the previous day’s crash, qualified near the back of the field.
Lander started the first race in 33rd position and immediately began making up spots. Although the race was filled with yellow flags, Lander and teammate Anthony Geraci made up 20 positions by the end, earning the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.
The second race of the weekend had Lander starting near the front after his excellent qualifying lap. At the start, the second-place car got in front of Lander, who would stick behind him for the remainder of the first stint. Lander handed the car over to Geraci in second. Geraci then made the pass into the lead and held on to it for the remainder of the race, securing the win for the team. Although it wasn’t the greatest of starts, the weekend ended as a success for the team with a victory and a Hard Charger award. Now, Lander, Geraci, and the Krügspeed team will look to carry this momentum into the final race of the GT4 season at Indianapolis Motor Speedway next weekend.
“This was a great comeback weekend for everyone! From where the team was on Friday night to putting the car on pole, earning the hard charger award, and winning the last race of the weekend, everyone left Sebring with a smile on their face. Toyota gave us a rocket ship, and the crew of Krügspeed Racing were unbelievable! Let’s keep the momentum up for the last race of the year in Indy!”
