Jaden Lander got his first taste of GT4 racing this past weekend with Krugspeed Racing at VIRginia International Raceway. Unfortunately, the weekend was filled with red and yellow flags, limiting the number of laps Lander could get in. Despite this, it was still a valuable learning experience for the rest of the season for the Krugspeed Racing team and Lander himself.
The Wednesday testing session before the race weekend allowed Lander to get in the Krugspeed Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 for the first time. On Saturday, in the weekend’s first race, Lander could only get in around three laps under green flag conditions because of constant on-track incidents. Sunday continued this theme with a red flag halting the race for 30 minutes on the opening lap. Lander had started the race in the Saturday session and was able to pass a few cars at the start before the red flag. Later in the race, the Krugspeed Racing team’s weekend sadly ended when teammate Anthony Geraci was hit by another car, breaking the tire rod.
Lander and the team didn’t get in as many laps as they hoped, but the weekend still provided an excellent opportunity for the co-led car to be on track, and overall the team showed great pace. They now look ahead to the next stop on the GT4 calendar at Watkins Glen from July 22nd to 24th.
