This past weekend, the 2023 race season started for Jaden Lander at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida. Lander was racing in the SCCA U.S. Majors Tour for Krugspeed Racing in a two-race weekend event.
Lander began the weekend with a solid qualifying performance that saw him narrowly miss out on pole by just .2 seconds and start the race in third. After avoiding a lap one incident, Lander was able to take the lead for the next couple of laps before a gearbox issue forced him to retire the car early.
The second race of the weekend saw Lander once again starting from third. Throughout the race, the top 4 cars continuously swapped places and fought for position in a tight pack. Lander was able to preserve his tires through all the action and was in position for a potential win before him, and the car in front slipped on oil going into turn one. Lander recovered from the incident, got the car back on track in fourth, and salvaged a third-place finish.
“Overall, it was a nice weekend. It felt amazing to get back behind the wheel and in a new car and give the Krugspeed team a P3 to start the year! Even though there were some mechanical issues, the engineers worked tirelessly to give me a race-winning capable car when the time mattered. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. I am looking forward to GT4 in March!”
Lander and the Krugspeed Racing Team will see their first GT4 action of 2023 this March at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California, from March 30th to April 2nd.
