Krugspeed Racing Sebring

Sebring, FL – Sep 25 2022

It was a tough weekend for the Krugspeed Racing Team and Jaden Lander at Sebring International Raceway. The team was looking to continue their earlier success after a win at Road America and a double podium at Watkins Glen the past two races. Unfortunately, some bad luck with accidents and part failures ultimately led to a disappointing weekend of racing.

Lander’s teammate Anthony Geraci started the first qualifying session, which resulted in a seventh-place start for the first race. Lander improved on this for race two with a fifth-place in-class finish, even with a slow-moving car affecting his final corner before the finish line.

In the weekend’s first race, Anthony Geraci started in the driver’s seat of the Krugspeed Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 and had a great start allowing him to pass six cars on the opening lap. While running in fourth in their class, the car was hit in the right rear, which caused a suspension issue. Lander took over the damaged car and was able to hold onto fifth place despite the lack of pace.

Lander had a great start in the second race, which saw him pass multiple cars and put in consistent lap times for some of his best racing this year. At the end of his driving stint, Lander was third in class. Geraci took over, made a pass for second, and was on pace to catch the leader, but with 4 minutes remaining in the race, a fuel pump failure forced him to retire the car.

It ended up not being the type of weekend the Krugspeed Team and Lander hoped for going into the weekend, but there were still positives to build on. The team showed they still have the pace to win races, and there is still a third-place finish in the AM championship to race for going into the final stop on the GT4 calendar in Indianapolis.

“Overall, it was a tough weekend. We had to do damage limitation in race one, and in race two were on set for either P2 or a race win. But that is racing, the highs are so high, and the lows are so low. The good takeaway from Sebring is that the car had the pace that we have been looking for since our first time in it at VIR. Thank you to Krugpseed, SRO, Pirelli, Thorne, and everyone who made this possible. Third, in the AM championship is still to play for come Indianapolis and we as a team will reset and come in ready to fight!”
